Hello to all here in this wonderful community! Hoping we are all blessed and in best of health.
Last sunday I had the chance to come back from where I grew up. It was my parents' farm.
This place is called Laborer's camp, but the locals call this Labor's camp, they like the short version of the name.
My grand parents owns this land and distributed it to thier kids. We lived here after I was born until 3years old. I don't have much memories about it. But this photo of me is a proof that we lived there.
This dog greeted us as we approach the house, my mother travels from our house in Alae to our farm, a 15 munite ride of motorcycle just to feed them. My nephew drives the motorcyle for her back and forth. She even buys fish gills in the store just to feed them.
She comes here to feed the chickens too. When my father was still alive, they live here and they have lots of chickens and it sustained thier daily needs. Even whe I was in college, I remembered that my father and I sells chickens in one of the restaurants near our place.
She has native chickens here, then she bought good breed chickens to cross breed what she has. She evwn has Kabir chickens. But my cousin who happens to be her neighbour, has a bantam chickens and it lived in my mother's. She doesn't like it because it is so small, and weighs less but eats the same as the other breeds.
Now this became a hen, and has 7 chicks now.
Here is her breeder chicken a Basilan breed, she likes this breed because it gives more meat when slaughtered and cooked.
They have renovated this house many times. But this is not where we lived when I was a kid. In the middle of the field, there was a tamarind and an orange coconut, that is where our first house was. I couldn't take pictures because there are lots of plants now.
The neighbouring farm which is owned by my uncle has lots of coconut trees and we went to get some. He welcomes us to get as long as we will not waste it, no like my other cousins who are very abusive.
Hubby brought a long bamboo so he could get the coconuts in the trees, using a large knife called sundang, he opened them. The coconut walter is very refreshing and the meat is so delicious. The kids were so excited to eat too, so even czak came near his father.
We get plenty of coconuts and pu it in a pale, we the brought it to our house where the whole family enjoyed it
There are matured coconuts that fell because of the strong wind in the night too. I brought them inside tge house so we could use it later. My husband and I likes vegetable soup with coconut milk, we call it ginataan in our locality. Actually, we did make some for dinner.
My mother is eating with the food we brought and her dogs are watching her, waiting to be given food too. They are well behaved dogs and they wait for her.
I really enjoyed being on the farm. When I still dont have my family once I lived here too. I enjoy the fatm activities with my mother even if it requires strength.
This is all for now, I plan to post more about this walk soon. (boss is here already) so bye for now.
Being back to where I enjoyed life sure makes me smile.
