This morning, after a week and a day of recovering from our journey to Portugal and back, as well as 'surviving' the Italian heat by spending most of our time indoors, and I spontaneously decided to load our NEW TENT into the roofbox of our wee old car and drive up the mountains and onto the river to go for a walk and a swim.
We drove through some picturesque villages...
...enjoyed breakfast and later, after our swim, had a nice lunch at some of our favorite spots.
Here's some photos of (me at) the river...
including an artsy photo of two dragonflies making love. I couldn't seem to get them into focus
We also re-explored an area that we like quite a lot and got more insight into where and how we want to live in the very near future.
( in case you didn't know, we are house and land hunting )
In fact, during today's outing, Clare made a phone call to a woman who is about to show us the property of a family member of hers. A place that is for sale and that we have had our eyes on for a while.
It is a solid building on a nice, sizeable plot of land in an area that we are very curious about/ interested in. It seems to be about one hour of driving away from where we hung out today and we managed to set an appointment for Monday morning.
Hurray!
We also had fun checking out a possible (wild)camping area, green fields overshadowed with beautiful old trees. A place where buffaloes and/or wild cows seem to roam.
There is a fountain/tap with mountain water as an added bonus. We refreshed ourselves and filled some glass bottles with fresh water.
Clare took this picture of me at another water tap, today
The aforementioned wild camping area is located near a campsite where Clare and I spent an afternoon, days after we first met, last September.
Back then, we used Clare's old tent that is now with a friend, in Portugal.
We are seriously considering to set up our new tent on this field on Sunday, the night before we go to check out the property we're interested in.
Not only would this be a nice adventure, it would also split our drive into half, as it is basically in between where we have to go Monday morning and where our current house resides.
TO BE CONVINUED...
