'' it was a flat day, and "velim" or Maze, had some boards to shape, I went with him on a factory day and left my crazy drawings on the board.''
Crazy tiny e board 3'4 FISH.
Yo. GM Ciao Surfhive!!!
Yesterday I arrived in Rio das Ostras, birthplace of my Shaper and friend Matheus, Maze Surf Crafts. It's always good to get here, spend a few days surrounded by new boards and models that the ''velim'' tests... good vibes.
So, the night before yesterday Maze I finished the bottom and some details on this new model of board with the aim of finishing it the next day in the morning.. since there would be a flat wave around Rio das Ostras, RJ, Brazil.
I'm particularly a fan of these models that velim creates. He manages to gather in a board with a classic design incredible speed and projection. So yeah, their boards suck. This accordion with a chamfered nose creates a nervous flow of water, with a volume distribution on a delightful deck to position the foot and perform a harmonious movement in the North Sea... I'm betting on this board.
So after the first stage of the mission to finish these 3 boards before the inauguration of the Mana Surf Wear Store in Buzios, we woke up in the morning and went to the factory to continue the run.
As soon as we arrived at the factory Maze had already positioned the first of the three boards on the easel to begin the beating of art. And it's always kind of crazy to see him creating, because this technique of mixing the paint in the resin and creating a kind of pegimented resin with colors blending into each other is awesome.
He quickly mixed a tone of red and a tone of black in the liquid resin and created this contrast with the yellow. And it's that thing, right, process artis the biggest trip. As the work progresses, it changes, so it's good to enjoy the journey and think about what you're going to do.
After velim ironing the first 2 sheets of fiber and painting the bottom of the board and the edges in this kind of salmon-wine color composition, we went to sit at the front of the factory to exchange an idea and have our moment to refuel. That's when I asked about the board, if it was already finished, and velim looked at me and said:
"No, I just had an idea bro, make some drawings in your style whatever comes to mind on the silk sheet and I shape it together with the resin and the layers of fiber.
Obviously I said: "Ok, my bro, I'm going to draw now"
And... there it is. A crazy free hand made and just in time so as not to delay the production of the other boards.
Frying the mind and drawing things that come and go, what's left?
David Oliveira #Grom amazing guy and shaper of fins.
Once the doiderinhas have been drawn, it's time to position the drawings in a relatively random way on the board and pour the liquid resin over the drawings so that later the layers of fiber come.
So, it was really cool to follow part of the process on this board, because it looks like a nervous model, I won't go into detail about the model itself because it's something in testing that velim is doing, but it was cool to participate too, adding my arts to the deck of the board, I think it contrasted well with the rest of the board.
After velim connecting the arts on the boards with the last layers of fiber it was already possible to see that aesthetically, according to the refined and robust design at the same time, with this painting kind of Lighting Bolt red Malboro with yellow and my drawings made a special board.
From physics formulas, Airdrop Culture illustration, crazy created at the time for Maze, this was the result of the arts, almost like a flash tatto step deck lol.

Guys, the finished board will be for a picture giving a good swing bow, or even catching a tube. I'm going to have to go back to my homeland, so there won't be enough time for me to share the finished board in this post, maybe next one... surfing, barreling. YO
