A little while ago I decided to create a couple of Communities, places I could drop my own subject-specific posts, a filing cabinet of sorts I guess. Naturally I invited others to join and post there and I'm pleased to say a few have.
The two Communities are the Lego Community and THE PEW.
The first is clearly for all things Lego-related and the other is for firearms, archery, hunting, paintball, knives, prepping and so on. These are fairly niche Communities of course, not as broad in scope as OCD, PowerHouseCreatives, Inner Blocks and so on and they don't get a lot of action from the masses, just a few loyal posters and myself, but I don't mind. It is what it is.
Since their inception I've wanted to find an excuse to bring them both together however have been unable to until...
Yesterday I hatched a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a fox!
That's right y'all, I decided to freestyle me a handgun out of Lego!
You can see the result in the images here; I would imagine it's pretty easy to work out which is Lego and which is not.
You're looking at my CZ Shadow 2 9mm semi-automatic and the Dr. Frankenstein's monster version which I made out of Lego. Yes I know, they do not look alike...That's because one is Lego. 😁
The challenge was to gather the bits and because most of my Lego comprises sets it was a little difficult...I ran out of the right colours and having yellow, pink and green Lego in my Lego gun didn't appeal to me...So, I did the best I could with what I had to work with.
Yep, a pretty average effort I guess...But the best I could do with what I had to work with. I'm glad I got the size right though, or close enough. I had to leave detail out including the safety lever and the hammer, although once again, it's Lego, so is never going to be exact.
I got the front and rear sights on though, and managed to work something out for the muzzle which gives it a more realistic look. If I'd had a huge pile of black and blue pieces I could have done a better job but that's not the case so my poor attempt is going to have to do.
What I'm pleased about though is finally working out a way to do a post that is relevant to both the Lego and The Pew Communities although I'm only posting this in the Lego Community as it's probably too far a stretch to call it a firearms-related post.
Anyway, this is my first attempt at freestyle-building a Lego firearm and I think I will have another go because it was a bit of fun. The only problem is that I've realised I simply don't have enough Lego...I'm not sure if I'll be able to resist the urge to buy more...But I will have to I guess.
Take a look at the Lego Community and THE PEW, who knows, you may find something you like.
Even if you don't though, make sure you support Communities; It's simple, just find the most relevant one for your post and drop it in...You may be surprised at what happens...Some of the biggest accounts on hive are curating across Communities so you may find yourself gaining a chunky vote or two if your post is noticed, and good enough.
Below is the Communities page on Peakd. If you go to the search bar (top-centre) you can search Communities by keyword. Search firearms and The Pew will come up for example. It's a good way to find the best Community for your post so give it a try.
Thanks for reading, I appreciate it. Maybe I'll see you around in a Community now and then and if you come across my posts here and there don't forget to drop in and say hello. Take care y'all.
