How does this little fella come to be. Well it starts with my nieces buying me a Lego set for Christmas, and I know that sounds a little backwards, I mean as an adult I should be the one buying the Lego for them, but it's a weird world we live in.
This is a one of the great 3:1 Lego creator sets, if you are new to Lego or maybe rekindling your love for it these three in one sets are an amazing place to start, as the name suggest there are 3 official models that can be built from the piece, in this case a Cat, a Pigeon and a dog. There is also a community on rebrickable where there are even more options, i count 36 including elephants, Rhinos, rabbits, robots, seals, wolves and many more.
Strangely this build starts with making the accessories, which is the least interesting part of the set, there is a mouse, which is blue for some reason, and then a midely out of scale ball of wool and tiny food bowl.
But then it's one to the cat itself, and this is a little unusual for a Lego set in that it's fairly obvious right away what you are building, you starts with the body of the cat, different coloured pieces inside and then a structure that will eventually head to legs and head being attached, and of course a tail.
You then more onto the next bag which is really entirely devoted to making the face of the cat, which is very expressive and indeed pkayful which probably makes me think it is a kitten.
Then it one to the legs, which are a little rigid stalk like but actually look realistic enough. interestingly you get to the final step of the instructions (some like step 75 ish) and then it's build the four feet which are all exactly the same. And there you have it a posable, playful cat.
and of course I needed to introduce it to the other cat in the household, the Tuxedo Cat, which of course like a true cat is treating this thing with disdain. Or maybe it know it's about to be rebuilt into a rabbit, but that a story for a another day.....
