So I have a lot of old lego, but that all stops in 1985 I haven't bought a set since. I have a couple of sets from some weird places since then - I have a plane from 2014 which I won in a bet (and was built by a friend's on an given to me) I have a Ferrari from 2018 which weirdly my dad bought me for Christmas that year (he was buying sets for his granddaughters/my neices and thought it would be cool if we all got lego sets, which it was). but I hadn't bought anything since the early 80's
Maybe I didn't even buy them then, I mean where does a 7 year old get money, was it pocket money? Could it be true that I didn't buy my first Lego set until I was in my forties - this is blowing my mind.
Anyway the point is I went to the store stood in front of a wall of Lego and decided to buy my first new lego set - it was overwhelming, I didn't understand what I wanted, should I choose on colour, on function, who know.
Eventually I decided on the Sunset Track Racer - set 31089 - I liked the orange, and the dark blue, and I thought it was a good entry way back in.
So let's see what we got.
The main build is a track racecar - next La Mans style vibe about this, looks of modern things which didn't exist back in the day - the wheel arches, all the tile work - that nose is what made me think to rebuild this as a F1 car - which becuase I haven't told this story in the right way you saw a couple of days ago in a post.
But, and this is different to the old set you also get instructions for two other designs in this range I also got to build this - which I think is meant to be a speedboat but I think looks like a cut price speeder from Star Wars (which I understand they do make in Lego and yes I want one)
And last but no least this other car - not a huge fan of this as it doesn't seem that realistic, but as it's a convertible and I drive a convertible It did make me wonder if I could build a realistic version of my car....but I'd need more bricks for that, maybe back to the store.
