Hey
So let's finish off this amazing LEGO build of the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman film. Part one of this cool build is here
I unfortunatley forgot to take any shots of the cockpit cover build process, but you can see it in some of the images below. Its really clever in the way that it slides forwards with a slight rise to clear the engine cover section. Got a short video clip though. How cool is that mechanism and the cockpit detail?
There are some really cool parts used to add some of the rear shaping, especially at the side to the rear. Yet again I was blown away by the engineering and the way that you can build a part that clips into a space with such precision. The front and rear covers are awesome as well, even if they are covered in greasy fingermarks!
Here's a cool finished front view with the awesome cockpit cover also in place. I cleaned it up a bit before this shot. Shiny shiny.
Next up are the "wings" (i guess they are wings...) at the back. This was one of the more tricky parts to do as there were lots of tiny parts and they weren't very sturdy until they were completed. They were built in 3 sections, the first one slotted down into a gap at the rear of the car and then the second part slotted sideways into the gap and clicked onto the first part. Then you add the side "fins" and they are complete. This was one of my favourite parts of the build... those wings are iconic.
All that was then left to do was finish off the rear of the car. This adds the exhaust pipes and jet exhaust which you can turn to eject the guns as well as some little rear lights.
.
The only final thing to do is finish off the included minifig stand and add the Jack Nicholson joker minifig. Loving the miniature gargoyles which throw back to some of the final scenes of the original movie on top of Gotham Cathedral.
There is also an included rotating stand to build.
So here it is, the finished build
And a couple of short video clips to see it in all its glory
I'll be dragging it outside at some point to get some better photographs too.
Thanks for looking
Mark
