Legos are ageless. Even at 39yrs old I wouldn’t hesitate to sit down and dig through a mountain of legos to find that one piece to finish a creation. My knees don’t like it too much these days but that doesn’t stop me. It’s been quite a long time since my son and I had some serious Lego building action. At 14yrs old he said he didn’t want this massive amount of legos in his room anymore. Even his Big Mac Semi truck and trailer along with other awesome builds that sat on his dresser. I guess he thinks he is too cool for legos now.
Some of the legos in these totes date back to the 80’s and 90’s from when I was a kid. I would say close to half the legos in these totes are from when I was growing up. I remember one Christmas giving him a zip-loc bag full of pieces and the instructions to this Model Team Semi-Truck.

“Daddy, is this one of your old Legos?”
“Yep, it sure is.”
“Wow!! Thanks Daddy!”
For the next few years for his birthday or Christmas I would do this with my old Model Team sets. I had some pretty bad ass ones!!

The parts to all those builds are in these 3 totes. There might be a few small pieces missing that got sucked up in the vacuum… hey it happens.
I remember sitting down for 8 hours straight tearing this one completely apart and rebuilding it. My son missed one little piece in the drive gear. In order to get to it, the whole thing had to come apart. He was so upset he was crying. I felt so bad for him. I know the frustration… trust me.
This 6x6 Tow Truck is completely remote controlled. The stabilizer legs, the crane, driving and steering. Such an awesome build.

For years every Christmas Mama Splatts and I would spend hours picking the right Big Lego set for him. The minute he opened it he would want to start building. Even before he opened his other presents. He still had the box to his last Lego set we got him for Christmas in his closet.
Then one day the builds he had displaying on his dresser and the 2 totes full of legos ended up in the spare room. I’m not sure what happened but he decided he didn’t want them anymore. This made me a little sad. Did one of his friends say something? What happened to cause him to want to get rid of them? I’m not 100% sure.
2 totes 3/4 full wasn’t all of them. On the floor in his closet was a mountain of legos too. Mama Splatts and I didn’t know what to do, so we left the totes in the spare room for a while. Along with all the legos on his closet floor.
Finally I decided to pack them up. First I had to dump them out and get all the nerf bullets and other stuff out of there. Pencils, markers, fidget spinners, candy wrappers, hot wheels cars… Damn!! that’s a lot of legos
Now the legos are in these 3 totes and neatly tucked in his closet. I just can’t bring myself to sell them. So many memories. Challenging, Frustrating, and the satisfaction of a completed build. Accomplishment…
I know one day we will bust them out of the closet, look up the directions to one of these Model Team sets and build. Legos poured out covering the living room floor. Sifting and sorting through them for countless hours.
