batik alone in the hallway next to his house on Jalan Bogowonto, Temenggungan Village, Banyuwangi Regency. His name is Kulsum, he looks still productive in making batik in the traditional way.
The woman lives alone in her house.
Mbah Kulsum. is one of the legendary batik that still survives in Banyuwangi.
He did the batik process himself, from drawing patterns to coloring.
Even though Kulsum's memory has diminished
Mbah Kulsum, however, persisted with Kulsum's persistence and patience in pursuing the art of traditional hand-drawn batik.
