Hello, friends of the Black and White community. On this occasion, I’ve saved one of my favorite places: the ruins of Saqsaywaman. This site was of vital importance to the Inca Empire, a place for grand celebrations and a strategic viewpoint over the center of Cusco. During my visit, my main purpose was to perform a pagapu—a traditional payment to Pachamama (Mother Earth). I brought coca leaves and chicha de jora to offer my gratitude.
The pagapu is a profound ritual. You choose the three most beautiful coca leaves, blow on them with focus, make your petitions, and share a drink with the Earth, pouring the first drop for her. It is a moment of cleaning and letting go. In this series, I want to show you that connection.
The main shot that opens this post is the viewpoint with the Cross. It represents the powerful syncretism of the region. From here, the city of Cusco unfolds at your feet, guarded by stones that have seen centuries pass. The cross stands as a silent witness to the union between the ancient and the present, marking the exact spot where the gaze gets lost in the heart of the Andes. I hope you enjoy this series of ten photos capturing the essence of this archaeological wonder.

Hola, amigos de la comunidad de Blanco y Negro. En esta ocasión, guardé uno de mis lugares favoritos: las ruinas de Saqsaywaman. Un lugar de vital importancia para el Imperio Incaico, donde se celebraban fiestas y se tenía una vista privilegiada de todo el centro de Cusco. Cuando fui, mi propósito principal era realizar un pagapu, que es el pago a la Pachamama, la Madre Tierra. Fui preparado con hojas de coca y chicha de jora para agradecer y pedir.
El pagapu es un ritual profundo. Escoges las tres hojas de coca más hermosas, las soplas con concentración pidiendo tus deseos y haces un brindis con la tierra, derramando el primer chorro para ella. Es un momento de limpieza y de dejar pasar todo. En esta serie, quiero mostrarles esa conexión.
La toma principal que abre este post es el mirador con la Cruz. Representa el potente sincretismo de la región. Desde aquí, la ciudad del Cusco se despliega a tus pies, custodiada por piedras que han visto pasar los siglos. La cruz se yergue como un testigo silencioso de la unión entre lo antiguo y lo actual, marcando el punto exacto donde la mirada se pierde en el ombligo del mundo. Espero que disfruten esta serie de diez fotos capturando la esencia de esta maravilla arqueológica.
