
Above the treeline is one of my favorite places to be. There's just something about it, like stepping into another world.

A bit on the cool side if you ask me but the critters that call it home don't seem to mind.

On one of my adventures above treeline in Rocky Mountain National Park I came across a whole passel of elk, these photos are all from that adventure.

Up there, you get a sense that you exist at Mother Nature's sufferance, it's not the most hospitable of places. The elk seemed similarly indifferent to my presence.

Just don't call'em supper or try to pet them, they don't like that.

When it starts getting cold they head for the lower elevations, wish I could do that when it gets chilly here...
