As far as I know I just made up #freewritefriday, the alliteration appealed to me and with the weekend so close I wanted to do something fun. A little while back I was reading about writer's block and one of the suggestions to help with that was to just freewrite for a bit. I've been meaning to do it since but there's always been something else demanding I write about it first. My attempts at organizing things usually result in metaphorical mushroom clouds or else I'd try and make this some sort of regular thing but I invite y'all to take a swing at it.
Last weekend I revisited my old neighborhood and wandered around taking photos for a few hours, all the ones in this post are from that. The one above is from a section of sidewalk that someone had planted bamboo along both sides of. It was really neat, like you'd accidentally teleported out of the city but the whole time I'm thinking I'm pretty sure bamboo is an invasive species.
Anyone else run into issues with invasive species? I grew up in kudzu country and it's a damned nightmare. Goats are about all that will eat it and they're not too keen on it and it's damn near impossible to kill. It'll grow up a tree and back down again, over and over until it topples the tree and smothers plants by blocking their sunlight. I once watched a hillside covered in it burn but a month or two later it was completely covered again, the stuff can grow as much as 12 inches (30cm) per day.
We wandered past the local watering hole while out and about, I'm pretty sure it is one thing that millennials won't be the death of. Next door to it is a pizza place and across the street is the local Stop-N-Rob selling cigarettes, beer, and lottery, it's the local equivalent of one stop shopping.
Eventually we discovered another portal for the teleporter in a nearby park. I want to know why we don't have teleporters and personal spaceships yet, I'm beginning to think science fiction has been lying to me.
Aunt Tifa is watching y'all!
It's about time I go pretend to be an adult for a few hours so I'm going to wrap this up. We saw too many things in bloom to not include a flower photo. So where do you like to go for random photo walks?
