It's official, I'm going back to DC! Not in a helicopter though. Judging by the livery on the chopper above, I suspect that may be one of the whirlybirds used as Marine One which leads me to believe that they may not be taking reservations. At least not from me...
In a little over a month we're hopping a train and heading to Washington for the National Cherry Blossom Festival. I'd intended to post some photos of cherry blossoms from that last time I was at the festival back in 2014 but I got sidetracked by all the helicopters I'd so you're getting that instead.
We're taking Amtrak, which should be interesting, gotta catch the train at 5 in the morning. Definitely looking forwards to 'Photos From Train Windows Parts 1 & 2', the route passes through the Appalachians and some gorgeous scenery. Plus it'll be fun to see how many people I can make uncomfortable on the train taking photos of anything and everything.
The festival is centered on the Tidal Basin and the Jefferson Memorial, or at least that's where most of the cherry trees are. You can see the Jefferson Memorial in the photo above, that old Huey kept making low passes. Kinda makes you wonder what bigwig was going sightseeing on the government dime...
Outside of protesting I don't think I've ever seen more whirlybirds whumping about than I did in DC, so I should have more for you before too much longer. Now to start packing...
