I love my relationship with these birds. When I take pictures of them, it doesn't feel like wildlife photography. It feels like portraits.
Bo taking a break from foraging to pose
I spend so much time with them, sometimes hours a day. They teach me things about crows. And about patience. And about letting go of control.

Bo keeping watch over his turf and his babies
I love to look at the freeze frame of their expressions in each picture.
Bo, smiling at me with his eyes as he comes in for a landing.
Bo, serious, focused, on patrol
Lorena, shyly taking kibbles out from under the roses
Lorena comes closer and closer each day to accept the food I offer. She is cautious, but very brave. Her trust means more to me than I could ever put into words.🌺
From an artist's perspective, I think that crows are fantastic for black and white.

Ultimately, though, the photography and the food are just excuses we make to hang out with one another.

Thanks for taking the time to look at the portraits of my unusual friends.
This is my entry for the June 1st #monomad challenge in the Black&White community. The challenge is held daily. It's a lot of fun to see everyone's entries. Black&white can add so much power to an image. I encourage you to join.
