You pushed me out into the world on that day. The day I was born. I blinked and looked around, everyone says. I didn't cry.
Why didn't I cry? Wasn't the womb comfortable? Weren't the fluorescent lights and cold air of the hospital terrifyingly sharp against my raw body? My amniotic eyes?
Wasn't I afraid?
You took me in your arms and looked into my face. In an instant, your fears were resolved, your emptiness gone. I gave your life meaning.
On the day I was born I promised to save you.
I don't remember doing that.
This is my cathartic crows in birthday solar eclipse light entry for the #monomad challenge, held daily in the Black and White Community.
Give it a try.
