Plastic bottles take a long time to break down.
And the dangers of marine plastic waste.
Indonesia is one of the largest waste producing countries in the world. There are 66-67 million tons of waste per year generated by my country, and most of it is plastic waste.
As we all know, plastic-based waste is difficult to decompose and takes a long time to decompose.
According to what I read about this, plastic waste bottles will decompose for tens or even hundreds of years, just imagine how long it will take for this type of plastic waste.
In addition to damaging the environment, plastic waste dumped into the sea will have an impact on humans as well, this is because the fish we consume think that the waste in the sea is plankton, for garbage that has not been in the water for a long time, it is likely that the fish will not eat it, however if plastic waste has been in the ocean for a long time, it will prevent fish from distinguishing plankton from plastic.
so besides being dangerous in fish consumption, fish populations are also threatened with extinction.
So we need awareness for all of us in terms of disposing of waste, especially plastic waste, try to minimize the use of plastic in certain products, or create creativity from plastic waste.
And one of the most important things in this case is to teach children from an early age not to litter, and the dangers of plastic waste for the environment and also for us humans.
