This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.
Philippine Pygmy Woodpecker (Yungipicus maculatus)
It's endemic to the philippiines. It's the most common. Has adapted well in variety of habitats, including forests, mangroves, plantations, and even urban areas. it feeds ants, beetles, and other small insects.
I like shooting this birds. it does not get scared easy. specially when its looking for food or eating. it allows me to come closed. maybe 10 meters away else it will fly away. How i find them on trees is when i hears their bird calls. It sound like a basketball referee whistle. Also the knocking sound it makes on the tree trunks. They are small 15cm only.
just for info
