While the city moves forward without stopping, it is the photographer who pauses to capture the movement, the everyday, the daily life of urbanism. Backlighting appears without warning; it simply happens, and that is when those waiting to capture it take advantage of the few but valuable minutes it offers. The movement of people, half empty streets, and that contrast of light and shadow that the camera observes carefully, waiting for a few clicks.

These photos refer to all of this, to everyday life at this very moment of sunset, where edges of light are drawn on the ground and scenes are created that not everyone stops to admire or simply do not see.

This is a type of photography that, for me, tends to have a lot of depth. It is more interesting and captivating to the eye, as it has shadows, sunlight, and a lot of contrast. You can play with all these elements, and it's not like a flat photograph that can sometimes appear when it's raining or at other times when there isn't as much light contrast or there is no sunset.

In that sense, I find it much more interesting to take advantage of this type of light for street photography. A simple person walking with their back to the light, or the division between the sun and the shadows creating a line as a young man crosses the avenue, seems wonderful to me.

I spent at least ten minutes taking the next photograph. I loved that giant tree, with its branches forming a kind of arch in the shadows and that circle of light. I felt that I needed someone to walk by so that I could capture that moment and the contrast between light, shadows, and a figure in the frame.

Sometimes you even need the presence of a person or some physical element, some movement. An object can also be relevant; it can be captivating and work very well with this type of lighting, such as a parked motorcycle. It's a matter of playing around with angles, perspective, light, and a little imagination.
