I'm not dead, I swear. This is not my gravestone. I'm not sure this is even a gravestone at all actually. I have photographed it before, with my Yashica Mat. This however, was taken with the Super Ikonta, the camera which lied to me about being a 6x9 but is really a 6x4.5. This means that I only got eight frames instead of the sixteen I could have gotten had I known the camera door was lying to me. I suppose I could have measured it (which I now have, just to be sure I'm not crazy) but really, when it says 6x9...
Anywho, I planned to post all eight over the last week or two, but alas I have been a terrible slacker. My car's been acting up, I decided to build a giant shed and move an entire storage unit into it, and of course paint my house to top it all off. So many things going on I kinda forgot about Hive for awhile.
So I have decided to make this a Monomad contest entry and share two frames, just to make it up to you!
The first one.... Is it a gravestone? I'm not at all sure. It caught my eye one day and I keep returning to it to test cameras. But I have never looked around it to see what it marks. It has certainly worn down enough that even if there was a name and date I probably couldn't find it. What was once an angel (?) is now a blob.
The second one is definitely a gravestone.
Heber Taylor lived from 1834 to 1899. I have taken several photos of his headstone because it's one of the most interesting in the cemetery. All I have been able to learn about him is that he married the daughter of General Joseph T. Copeland and he was born in Canada. General Copeland's headstone can be seen in the background, however, he isn't buried here. He was moved to a cemetery in Michigan. I'm not sure why they didn't remove the stone. Nor do I know where his daughter/Heber's wife is buried. Heber rests alone near the entrance on a little slope above a creek.
Perhaps it's visits to the cemetery that make me realize that life is too short to be so ridiculously busy. I need to slow down and enjoy my hobbies more as well as interact with the good people here on Hive and in my "real" life. I will make an effort to post the rest from this lovely camera, I promise. π
