It's not often you get the chance to wander around Mannakin Hall in the dark and even rarer to attend with a model! So when these two events collide, I'm not going to say no and jumped at the chance!
Danielle turned up looking stunning with a great outfit (I'm no fashion expert) and great makeup. The theme she was going for was "Bride of Chucky" I'm no horror fan but I was assured she nailed it!
Mannakin Hall (www.mannakin.com) is about 1 acre of land covered in thousands of reclaimed mannequins arranged in a slightly macabre way. I've been a couple of times before but never in the dark.
As I processed the images, I found they looked great in monochrome. These images are also my entry in to Monomad:
Danielle strikes a pose
As I got home on the evening I shot this set, I realised all of the images were shot in crop sensor mode. I couldn't believe it! How on earth did my camera manage to do that!? They say a bad workman blames his tools but in this case I genuinely have no idea the camera ended up shooting smaller files!
So for the following images, no pixel peeping!!
The last was the fave
I shot this pretty much at the end of the evening. I must have warmed up by this point with all the running around but the model, Danielle wasn't so warm and shortly after this disappeared in to the night....
The Christine Keeler shot
I spotted the chair and immediately thought of the famous Christine Keeler image shot in 1963 albeit Danielle is fully clothed!
Macabre Corridor
I'm not really sure how to describe this dark corridor full of mannequins in various states of dereliction but Danielle stood out from the crowd.
In the paint booth
The mannequins in this room get refurbished and sprayed under bright white lighting. We also realised it was perfect for high key images.
She's a 10 surely?
I liked the numbers on the wall and wanted to try arranging Danielle under the number "10" but couldn't quite manage it.
There's something creepy about the mannequin's stare...
As I processed this shot, I couldn't help but think there was something creepy about the mannequin on the right...
Taller
A great way to make your 5 ft 2 ins model look taller is to shoot from down low. Instantly taller...
About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I like to collaborate with other photographers and occassionally shoot outside my comfort zone.
