After six years of blogging, I still find writing the hardest part. I have learned, from a very young age to express myself with pictures rather than words. Photography happens handily, without any effort. I let myself to be drawn by the light and shapes, while framing has become a second nature. I look around and I see pictures!
Words, on the other hand, are often struggling to find their way to my fingertips and the keyboard that will eventually, send them to you. But people communicate with words. A rather imperfect and quite problematic way of communication, if you ask me, but the only one we have figured out so far.
I took those pictures a couple of weeks ago, having in mind a monochrome edit as I was taking them. But then I took many more and I ended up writing a whole different post about that walk, forgetting about them. But now the south winds returned, the air is once again filled with dust from Sahara dessert and going out to take pictures doesn't seem like a good idea, not at all!
So I dived into the magic of editing, the second best activity after actually shooting and the black and white patterns that I had imagined, appeared before my eyes.
And now before your eyes too :)
In case you haven't recognised them, the thorny cactuses that I so eagerly captured, are prickly pears, a plant life form that can be found abundantly around here. They don't seem to have any problem at all growing by the sea, on rocks, even on vertical cliffs. And they bear delicious fruits too, for those that are skilful enough to collect and peel them without getting stung by the countless thorns that protect them!
The last picture has nothing to do with the rest apart, of course, from the fact that it was taken at the same time and place as the previous ones. Nevertheless I wanted to see it in black and white and since I edited it we not share it with you too :)
This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.
The camera that I used is a Canon EOS 850D with an EF-S 18-135mm lens attached. I edited the photographs in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic
All the pictures and the words are mine.
Thank you for reading and if you want to know more about me you can check out my introduction post.
