This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.
Last winter was a pretty good ice winter and we are really hoping for similar conditions this year. The water is cold right now but the ice hasn't started growing on the surface of the sea in the outer archipelago.
Our boats are mostly taken out of the water already which means that we are depending a lot on the ferry that goes to the island with a fixed schedule. Practically this is the time of year when we have the least amount of freedom to move until the ice is strong enough for us to travel on.
Here you have two pictures from last winter where we spent a lot of time on the ice!
The kick-sled is a fun way to travel over the ice as long as there isn't too much snow. This photo is taken when thick fog erased the the whole world 50 meters in front of you and at some point you couldn't see land in any direction!
Walks on the frozen sea gives the you the feeling of a special kind of freedom!
Hoping for a good winter! Thanks for stopping by, friends!
