We had a community of freedivers in our place, that was established late last year it was named BAD freediver dubbed from connected town of Boljoon, Alcoy and Dalaguete makes it a literal initials of BAD. Freediving is one of the most dangerous underwater activity and slowly considered as sports leisure by many. It is considered as dangerous because it doesn't use any breathing apparatus as you descend in deep waters. The only basic gears used by freedivers were mask and snorkel and the fins. You may consider wearing wet suit if you have one. Here are some shots of our freediving sessions in monochrome, which will be my entry for the for the #monomad challenge as well.
One of the techniques used in freediving is equalization to prevent your ears from damage as you descend in deep waters and to avoid also from dizziness that may lead to unconsciousness which makes it dangerous because you're in waters. In doing the equalization you simply pinch your nose and blow air to it until such you hear popping sound in your ears. Like what my friend did in above photo.
We also do line dive training, to test how deep you can descend while holding the line and to test your breath hold as well. But with the guidance of the safety diver of course like we always do.
