Hello dear monochrome friends at #Hive and followers of the #monomad challenge!... Here in my village it rained for the last 36 hours, so I've opted to spend my morning selecting a handful of photos to share with you through this post. Due to the weather, I was unable to go out to take photographs in the streets and I was also unable to fulfil some commitments I had pending outside my home.

Aquí en mi pueblo ha estado lloviendo durante las ultimas 36 horas, así que he optado por invertir mi mañana en seleccionar un puñado de fotos para compartir con ustedes a través de esta publicación. Pues, debido al clima no pude salir a hacer fotografías en las calles y tampoco pude cumplir con algunos compromisos los cuales tenía pendientes fuera de casa.

The good thing is that October was a month with quite a few days without rain, so that allowed me to take a lot of photos and I have my hard drives with plenty of material to have fun editing and creating posts. This is good, because #Hive has become a very important part of my daily activity and I love being here sharing content and enjoying the content created by you. Most especially, the black and white photo content here on #monomad. I always loved taking photos, editing them and sharing them, but since I have #Hive I feel like: "I'm in a great place"... And now, at this very moment, when I look out my window and notice the rainy weather, being in #Hive is something even nicer to have, as it becomes something like "a refuge" to be at ease.

Lo bueno es que Octubre fue un mes con bastantes días sin lluvias, así que eso me permitió hacer gran cantidad de fotos y tengo mis discos duros con bastante material para divertirme editando y creado publicaciones. Esto es bueno, pues #Hive se ha convertido en parte muy importante de mi actividad cotidiana y amo estar aquí compartiendo contenido y disfrutando del contenido creado por ustedes. Muy en especial, del contenido fotográfico en blanco y negro aquí en #monomad. Siempre me gustó hacer fotos, editarlas y compartirlas, pero desde que tengo a #Hive siento que: "Estoy en un excelente lugar"... Y ahora, en este preciso momento, cuando miro por mi ventana y me percato del clima lluvioso, estar en #Hive es algo aún más agradable de tener, pues se torna en algo así como "un refugio" para estar a gusto.

Do you know anything? I am a retired systems engineer, but I made the decision to study that after long conversations with my father (Telecommunications technician) and my mother (retired teacher)... But in truth I always liked more the humanistic university careers... There was a time when I wanted to study philosophy and literature, I even once had the idea of becoming a priest and another time I thought about studying journalism, but my medium talent for dealing with technology ended up making me opt for systems engineering... I say all this because, that "humanistic restlessness" that I have always had since I was a kid, seems to me that maybe it is the origin of me sitting here in front of my PC editing photos and writing a lot of outlines to share with you... I had to wait a few years, but boy, am I enjoying it! ;)

¿Saben algo? Yo soy un ingeniero en sistemas retirado, pero tomé la decisión de estudiar eso después de largas conversaciones con mi padre (Técnico en telecomunicaciones) y mi madre (Profesora retirada)... Pero en verdad siempre me gustaron más las carreras universitarias humanísticas... Hubo un momento en el cual quise estudiar filosofía y letras, incluso una vez tuve la idea de hacerme sacerdote y otra vez pensé en estudiar periodismo, pero mi mediano talento para lidiar con la tecnología terminó por hacerme decantar por ingeniería de sistemas... Digo todo esto porque, esa "inquietud humanista" que tuve siempre desde que era un crío, me parece que quizás sea el origen de que esté aquí sentado en frente de mi PC editando fotos y escribiendo un montón delineas para compartir con ustedes... ¡Tuve que esperar algunos años, pero caray, sí que lo estoy disfrutando! ;)

Regarding these photos, they are from last October, as I said before... I edited them in an exquisitely free way, favouring strong contrasts or hard shadows. I even allowed myself to burn some whites and celebrate with anarchy my beloved catharsis of editing images for hours... The same happened with the cropping where necessary, I didn't want to use standard proportions, but cropped freely looking at the photo and "feeling" its own eloquence.

Con respecto a estas fotos, son de octubre pasado tal como dije antes... Las edité de una manera exquisitamente libre, propiciando contrastes fuertes o sombras duras. Inclusive me permití quemar algunos blancos y celebrar con anarquía mi amada catarsis de editar imágenes durante horas... Lo mismo ocurrió con los recortes en los casos que fueron necesarios, no quise usar proporciones standard, sino que recorte libremente mirando la foto y "sintiendo" su elocuencia propia.

It seems to me that this format of publication, which I call "Exposed Gaze", is perhaps the one in which I explore and uninhibit myself the most. It seems to me that here my taste for photography and my desire to write come together with pleasure. So there is a kind of "pleasant accompaniment" of images and words in a strange but sincere interweaving... This is a bit different from the "Jesus Linares I know" because in person I can go from an extreme eloquence to the most extreme introversion in fewe seconds. So, I can say that here I deliver my best version as a person.

A mi me parece que este formato de publicación al cual llamo "Mirada Expuesta" es quizás en donde más me explayo y me desinhibo. Me parece que aquí se mezclan a placer mi gusto por la fotografía como mis ganas de escribir. Entonces hay una especie de "acompañamiento ameno" de imágenes y palabras en un entrevero un poco extraño,pero sincero... Esto caray, es un poco distinto del "Jesús Linares que conozco" pues en persona puedo ir de un extremo de elocuencia a la introversión más acérrima en pocos segundos. Entonces, puedo decir que aquí entrego mi mejor versión como persona.

_{ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.}
