In a way "I am in my photos" and I don't mean something as simple as this is about photos of the streets of my village, no... What I am trying to say is that these photos are my way of seeing what is happening in the village and of capturing this... I could say that I do this because I like photography for entertainment, or I could say that I use it for catharsis, which is true. But the essence of "myself in my photos" has more to do with the need to ‘create’ and I think that is something we all have in common... Some may paint, others make music, there will be those who write and those who sing... I don't know, but what is necessary seems to be ‘to create’...

De alguna manera "yo estoy en mis fotos" y no me refiero a algo tan simple como que esto se trate de fotos de las calles de mi pueblo, no... Lo que intento decir es que estas fotos son mi manera de ver lo que sucede en el pueblo y de plasmar esto... Yo podría decir que hago esto porque me gusta la fotografía como entretenimiento, o también decir que me sirve para catarsis lo cual es cierto. Pero la esencia de "mi mismo en mis fotos" tiene que ver más que nada con la necesidad de "crear" y pienso que eso es algo que todos tenemos en común... Algunos quizás pintan, otros hacen música, habrá quienes escriben y quienes canten... No sé, pero lo necesario parece ser "crear"...

Doing street photography is something that moves me beyond the image and provides me with a primal perception of how life happens around me. I am aware that my vision of the streetscape is different from that of others around me, but I am not sure which comes first, my streets or my understanding of them. But either way, I like to be ‘at the centre’ of what I observe, I like to wander around these streets finding my idealised vision in them and creating these images...

Hacer fotografía de calle es algo que me traslada más allá de la imagen y me provee de una percepción primigenia de como la vida transcurre en torno a mí. Estoy consciente de que mi visión del paisaje callejero es distinta a la de otras personas a mi alrededor, pero no estoy seguro de que ocurre primero, si mis calles o mi manera de entenderlas. Pero sea como sea, me gusta "estar en el centro" de lo que observo, me gusta deambular deambular por estas calles encontrando en ellas mi visión idealizada y crear estas imágenes...

This town is bipolar, as bipolar as myself perhaps... From one street to the next, it changes; from one hour to the next, it changes even more... So that's how my photos are too, fickle, oscillating, sometimes pristine, sometimes charged with a certain bitterness, sometimes sad and dramatic, and other times more cheerful or even funny... That's also why I say with absolute certainty that ‘I am in my photos’... I imagine that this is something that I could only do through street photography, as I can't imagine achieving this with any other kind of photographic work... I also like to take macro and landscape photos, but I don't find the same level of expression in them that ‘happens’ to me with my street photography...

Este pueblo es bipolar, tan bipolar como yo mismo quizás... De una calle a otra, cambia; de una hora a otra, cambia aún más... Entonces así son también mis fotos, volubles, oscilantes, algunas veces prístinas, otras veces cargadas con cierta amargura, algunas tristes y con drama, y otras veces más alegres o incluso divertidas... Por eso también es que afirmo con total certeza que "estoy en mis fotos"... Me imagino que esto es algo que solo podría hacer a través de la fotografía callejera, pues no me imagino logrando esto con otro tipo de trabajo fotográfico... También me gusta hacer macros y fotos de paisajes, pero en ello no encuentro el mismo nivel de expresión que "me ocurre" con mis fotos de calle...

_{ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.}

_{NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.}
