As a teacher and photographer, I recently had the chance to do a fun portrait shoot with my Grade 12 students. We could focus on the pupils' attractive natural features and unique personalities because they were dressed in casual attire.
We approached the session simply, without any props or other distractions. Instead, by employing simple backgrounds and lighting, we were able to create a timeless and classic image. The kids were also informed that my final result would be in black and white, which would offer another creative challenge to the photo shoot.
The pupils were terrific to work with, and we enjoyed playing with different postures and facial expressions. It was fascinating to see them come to life in the final images because each photo amply displayed their distinct characteristics.
It was fun for me as a teacher to see how much the kids enjoyed the shoot and how comfortable and at ease they felt in front of the camera. Helping young people cultivate positive self-perceptions and self-confidence is always a delight.
All in all, everyone enjoyed and benefited from the portrait session. I'm grateful I got the opportunity to work with such bright and inspiring students, and I can't wait to see what they do in the future.
