"The gods waited from one moment to another for the appearance of Nanahuatzin somewhere in the sky, already transformed into the sun. And the sun came from the east painted red, hurting the eye, splendorous, providing warmth. Tecuciztécatl came next, shining with equal intensity. The gods wondered what to do with two suns. Someone took a rabbit and with it slapped the second sun, dulling its brightness and transforming it into the Moon."
