I really love finding highly detailed statues like this, I find it to be about as close to taking portraits as you get without a live subject. The expression never changes so you can always try to find new and appealing angles but still have a fixed subject to focus on. Also the textures are something that I like to get the most out of, monochrome tends to help greatly in making these little details stand out more.
