I find black and white in the snow just seems to be a natural fit. For shots like these where there is a bit of darkness, the snow will add something to brighten up the frame a bit but at the same time maintain a certain flow with the darker parts of the frame. These are all photographs of what it looks like when the snow has melted a bit but the temps are still cold enough to freeze again as the sun goes down. I was pleased to catch some kids playing hockey on an ice rink, as it very much reminds me of the aesthetic I grew up with.
