| MONOMAD | Mud / Fango

The conflict:

Neighbors reported that on the corner of my house, workers from Aguas de La Habana had opened a huge hole.

I went outside and looked into the distance 😐.

El conflicto:
Los vecinos reportaron que en la esquina de mi casa, trabajadores de Aguas de La Habana habían abierto un enorme hoyo. Salí y miré a lo lejos 😐.

I had no water at home. Minutes before I had to get out of the shower soapy and contrary to what you might think, I wasn't in a bad mood.

I just said to myself, nothing ever happens here. Grab the camera and let's find out if the hole is deep enough to take us to the center of the Earth. This #Monomad Challenge will appreciate the dare.

Then, I focused on the details

No tenía agua en casa. Minutos antes tuve que salir de la ducha enjabonada y al contrario de lo que se pueda pensar, no estaba de mal humor.

Simplemente me dije, aquí nunca pasa nada. Coge la cámara y vamos a descubrir si el agujero es lo suficientemente profundo como para llevarnos al centro de la Tierra. Este #Monomad Challenge agradecerá el atrevimiento.

Luego, me centré en los detalles

This pipe seemed to scream to the whole neighborhood, bad news, bad news!

Esta tubería parecía gritar a todo el vecindario, ¡malas noticias, malas noticias!

Out of the backhoe came a worker, looking unfriendly. We greeted each other briefly, but there was still a lot to break down.

De la retroexcavadora salió un obrero con cara de pocos amigos. Nos saludamos brevemente, pero aún quedaba mucho por descomponer.

The crime scene 😱.

La escena del crimen.

I think I'm an expert at making friendly small talk. I was able to get to the hole.

Creo que soy experta en charlas amistosas. Pude llegar al hoyo sin problemas.

But first my camera wanted to taste those sprinkles before anything else.

Pero primero mi cámara quería saborear esas virutas antes que nada.

I don't know for sure if they were there to repair the neighborhood leaks. I told them that right in front of my house there was one, to not be shy and continue a little forward.

This caused them to laugh.
Things are not so easy in the outside world.
Sometimes I think life is as simple as shooting my camera.

I'm so happy when I do it!

No sé a ciencia cierta si estaban allí para reparar los salideros del barrio. Les dije que justo delante de mi casa había una, para que no fueran tímidos y siguieran un poco hacia delante.

Esto les provocó una carcajada.
Las cosas no son tan fáciles en el mundo exterior.
A veces pienso que la vida es tan sencilla como disparar mi cámara.

¡Soy tan feliz cuando lo hago!

But, this is a very hard job, with feet stuck in the mud, punished also by the sun... this man's wife or daughters must know that. I wondered if that tattoo had two names or just one.

Pero, este es un trabajo muy duro, con los pies metidos en el barro, castigado también por el sol... la esposa o las hijas de este hombre deben saberlo. Me preguntaba si ese tatuaje tenía dos nombres o sólo uno.

It was already past noon and I imagined that their stomachs were rumbling....

Those in the photo above were by then in a hurry to pick up the scene of the crime.

Meanwhile, there were those who preferred to savor the sweetness of a mango, while this servant returned home, I mean to the desert, to download the photos and prepare this post.

Luckily I had some water left to drink in some little tanks that I keep in the kitchen.

Ya había pasado el mediodía e imaginé que sus estómagos rugían...

Los de la foto de arriba para entonces ya tenían prisa por recoger la escena del crimen.

Mientras tanto, había quien prefería saborear la dulzura de un mango, en lo que esta servidora regresaba a casa, quiero decir al desierto, a descargar las fotos y preparar este post.

Por suerte me quedaba algo de agua para beber en unos pequeños depósitos que guardo en la cocina.
