This is my Monomad Challenge..
A couple of years ago I was asked to photograph "Skaterfest" in Retford. It was a little daunting as it was a friend of mine with his own Photography company and he couldn't make the event that day so I was there by myself feeling a little nervous and under pressure, but I ended up actually really enjoying the day. Once I've got my settings sorted and was happy, I was all set to shoot away. On events like this I usually take a lot of shots in the hope of getting a few good ones in the mix, hopefully I did. The one thing I like about the first shot apart from the skater being frozen in the air, is his cigarette deftly held in his fingers..
I'm really pleased with the following images too where I managed to freeze the skaters in the air. I do feel that the monochrome adds a really nice grittiness to the shots..
And we also had trick scooters..
Equipment used Nikon D600, 70-300mm & 18-65mm lens
