Hello everyone , this is my entry for #monomad challenge of today.
Travel mood, memories of Lisbon.
Lisbon is an ancient and authentic metropolis, a contradictory city between charm and melancholy, between the beauty of its unique corners and the sometimes very shabby buildings and poverty in the streets, all accentuated by Fado, the typical, sad and nostalgic music famous in all over the country.
Lisbon lives kissed by the sun in a country with millenary traditions that take the visitor back in time with the old wooden trams and iron funiculars that climb the hills of the city, the artisans who maintain ancient professions in the baroque streets of the center , the azulejos, glazed tiles with Hispano-Moorish geometric designs that cover the facades of entire buildings.
Glimpse of the Jerónimos Monastery with its Manueline-style architecture, all the decorations in the cloister look like lace embroidered in the stone. Fernando Pessoa, one of the most widely read Portuguese writers in the world, and the explorer Vasco de Gama are also buried here.
The Torre de Belém, an iconic symbol of Lisbon, rises above the mouth of the Tejo, guarding the entrance to the city's port.
"A Brasileira" is one of the oldest and most famous cafes in Lisbon, it is located in the historic Chiado district and has always been a destination for the intellectuals of the time, so much sthat a bronze statue of Fernando Pessoa was placed outside the cafe, as if the poet were still happily seated at one cafe table with you.
