This post is my entry for the #monomad challenge.
Title: Long-eared owls
During the winter, the long-eared owl is one of the most common birds of prey in populated regions. They arrive in September and stay through April.
This owl hunts its prey at night and spends the day sleeping in the treetops. They usually live in trees in the center of populated places.
It is highly valuable in agricultural areas because it feeds on various rodents, minimizing the need for a huge amount of poison to be used.
Although it is a predator, it is also frequently prey. Hawks and buzzards are the most common predators on it.
