Time to document

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge

I return once again to walk the streets of my city with the intention of documenting the lives of its people. Currently my country is undoubtedly living a turning point, defining what will be its future for the coming years, in its two possible scenarios, the country is at a critical point where either the government changes or will prevail at a high cost to its citizens, it is reaching a point in Cuba, which is no longer poverty is misery.

Meanwhile I go out with my camera and document the stories that I find on my way, they say that history is told by the winners, but the testimonial evidence is super important for that history to maintain its links to reality and it is impossible its total manipulation, the images speak louder than any speech or political agenda.

Hopefully this work will one day serve to explain or understand a little bit how we live in this time on this island, but beyond that I also intend in my images, to balance that reality with beauty in what can be an interesting composition, or a light that achieves the impact of the viewer.

Vuelvo una vez más a caminar las calles de mi ciudad con la intención de documentar la vida de sus personas. Actualmente mi país vive sin duda un momento de inflexión, definitorio de lo que será su futuro para los próximos años, en sus dos escenarios posibles, el país está en un punto crítico donde o cambia el gobierno o prevalecerán a un alto costo para su ciudadanos , se está alcanzando un punto en Cuba, que ya no es pobreza es miseria.

Mientras tanto yo salgo con mi cámara y documento las historias que voy encontrando a mi paso, dicen que la historia la cuentan los ganadores, pero la evidencia testimonial es súper importante para que esa historia mantenga sus nexos pegados a la realidad y sea imposible su total manipulación, las imágenes hablan más alto que cualquier discurso o agenda política.

Ojalá y ese trabajo sirva algún día para explicar o entender un poquito como es que vivimos en este tiempo en está isla, pero bueno más allá de eso también pretendo en mis imágenes, equilibrar esa realidad con la belleza en lo que puede ser una composición interesante, o una luz que logré el impacto del espectador.
