Greetings, Hivers.
Cropping in photography has always been a complicated subject for me. I鈥檝e been taking photos for many years, and with the arrival of the digital era, formats have constantly changed. In printed photography, sizes such as 4x6, 5x7, 6x8, 8x10, and 8x12 were the most common, with 8x12 already considered an enlargement. But once screens took over, everything changed. Some aspect ratios remained, but nothing was quite the same anymore.
Camera sensors, in general, keep a proportion close to 8x12, regardless of resolution. However, when it comes to sharing on platforms like Instagram, things get tricky. At first, the only option was the square format 1x1, which was very difficult for me to compose. Later they introduced the 4x5 format, which is a bit more comfortable, but to reach a wider audience it鈥檚 almost mandatory to post vertically, and that is not always visually appealing.
Over time, I stopped worrying too much about formats. Now I simply compose the photograph the way I like it and, if necessary, place it inside a white frame. Fortunately, on Hive there are no restrictions on aspect ratio or resolution, which gives us total creative freedom鈥攁nd I think that鈥檚 wonderful. Thank you, #Hive 馃槃
Today I鈥檓 sharing a small sample of photographs, some with frames and others full bleed. Personally, I enjoy working full bleed much more, filling the entire frame, but I鈥檇 love to know your opinion. Which one do you prefer? I鈥檒l be reading you in the comments.
Saludos amigos Hivers.
Gracias #Hive 馃槃
驴A ustedes c贸mo les gusta m谩s? Los leo en los comentarios.
