Hello Hivers. How are you today?
Winter arrives in Havana, and with it come the cold fronts, or Nortes. These masses of cold air usually bring heavy seas, winds, and rain. It’s time to take out the coats and keep the cameras ready, because during these few weeks of Cuban winter, the landscape changes drastically — and there’s little time to capture it.
Yesterday, Havana’s Malecón was absolutely majestic. It’s one of those places that never loses its charm, whether in summer or winter. Its warm evenings, bathed in deep reds and a spectacular orange sun, turn during this season into a dramatic scene where the sea claims its share without mercy, sending waves crashing hard and rising several meters high.
An incredibly captivating spectacle to photograph — and of course, I wasn’t going to be the exception.
Winter has just begun, so in the coming months we’ll be seeing similar scenes quite often.

Saludos Hivers. ¿Cómo están hoy?
Llega el invierno a La Habana y, con Ă©l, los frentes frĂos o “Nortes”. Masas de aire que vienen acompañadas de marejadas, vientos y lluvias. Nada, que hay que sacar los abrigos y tener las cámaras listas, porque el paisaje en estas pocas semanas que dura el invierno en Cuba cambia drásticamente, y hay realmente poco tiempo para fotografiarlo.
Ayer el Malecón habanero estaba imponente. Es de esos lugares que nunca pierden su encanto, tanto en verano como en invierno. Sus tardes cálidas y bañadas de un rojo intenso y un sol naranja espectacular se transforman, en esta época, en un espectáculo casi aterrador donde el mar reclama su parte sin piedad, lanzando olas que rompen con fuerza y se alzan varios metros sobre el muro.
Un espectáculo increĂblemente atractivo de fotografiar, y claro que yo no iba a ser la excepciĂłn.
Recién comienza el invierno, asà que en los próximos meses veremos escenas similares con frecuencia.
