Timeless, as if we are suspended in a fairy tale place, with narrow and winding streets, ups and downs and stairs that twist and turn throughout the “Barribarto” (historic centre): usually the labels exaggerate, and then you are disappointed, but Frigiliana is really one of the most beautiful white villages of Spain.
I arrive just before lunchtime and there is enough movement because it is Sunday, and many people like me have decided to take advantage of the wonderful day for a trip out of town.
Its Moorish style is characterized by whitewashed houses with rough plaster, slightly squared roofs and inserts of colored ceramics. The Moorish term derives from the name "Moros" which in the past in Spain indicated the Muslim invaders from North Africa.
The people of Frigiliana are very proud of the beauty of their village and do everything to keep their streets and facades clean and full of charm: there are many small hidden corners, panoramic terraces with sea views, narrow stairways and fountains in the courtyards, all enriched by spaces full of plants, flowers and benches in which to experience this magical atmosphere.
Let yourself be carried away by the special light of this place and by the enchanting harmony that you can breathe.

Senza tempo, come sospesi in un luogo di fiaba, con stradine strette e sinuose, saliscendi e scale che si snodano in tutto il Barribarto (antico centro storico): di solito le etichette esagerano, e poi si resta delusi, ma Frigiliana è davvero uno dei villaggi bianchi piu belli di Spagna.
Arrivo poco prima dell'ora di pranzo e c'è abbastanza movimento perchè è domenica, e molte persone come noi hanno deciso di approfittare della splendida giornata per una gita fuori porta.
Il suo stile moresco è caratterizzato da abitazioni tinte di bianco a calce, con intonaco grezzo, coperture poco squadrate e inserti di ceramiche colorate. Il termine moresco deriva dal nome "Moros" che nel passato in Spagna indicava gli invasori musulmani provenienti dal Nord Africa.
La gente di Frigiliana è molto fiera della bellezza del proprio villaggio e fa di tutto per mantenere le proprie strade e le facciate pulite e ricche di fascino: ci sono tantissimi piccoli angoli nascosti, terrazze panoramiche con vista mare, scalinate strette e giochi d’acqua dei cortili, il tutto arricchito da spazi pieni di piante, fiori e panchine in cui assaporare la magica atmosfera.
