Hail to the Hive!
You would be forgiven for mistaking these as ancient ruins of a temple from a long lost civilization. Sat at the foot of the mountains in the dry ancient Sinai Desert.
Preserved for an eternity by the dry desert air for generations only to be discovered a thousand years later by adventurous travelers forging their way into uncharted areas.
Or……it’s what appears to be an abandoned new build next door to the resort we are staying at, preserved by the dry air and lack of rain.
We had a look on google maps and the resort we were on wasn’t fully complete and these building were already there so something must have halted the completion years ago.
My guess is that when the the Russian plane exploded over the Sinai back in 2015 causing tourism to collapse in the region it just never got finished.
We noticed a lot of similar unfinished projects up and down the Sinai coast but we also saw signs that tourism has bounced back considerably since then and of course also from the recent pandemic. Who knows perhaps on my next visit plans will have resumed and it will be finished and operational. Seems a shame to just leave these shells uncompleted.
Good for #monochrome though and a I do……..
