Hail to the Hive!
I'm making good on my promise to myself to keep busy on the blockchain despite my temporary nocturnal working patterns with my #monochrome Cannon offerings today.
Quite a few yeears ago when I was living in Jamaica there were 2 old cannons on th property where we lived pointing out to see and to be honest if I'd seen a couple of pirate ships in the bay they would have looked right at home in the setting.
So when I passed these historical beauties the other day, while having a stroll around Plymouth, my mind took me right back to those days in Jamaica and the way they make you imagine what was in view in those days.
I don't think it's possible to gaze along the cannons barrel and not imagine it booming out a cannon ball, wrecking the wooden hull of some would be invading ship.
The ability to destroy from distance contributed heavily to the colonial powers ability to acquire land, goods and amass the considerable wealth they built their nations with.
These were indeed the formidable weapons of their era.
And yet there's something almost magnetic about them, they have an aura of stories yet to be told and the power they once unleashed.
and to be fair they do make cracking models for a mit of #monomad activity also.
Today they are a tip of the hat to the naval histoty of Plymouth and the part they played in defending this port.
No invading ships today though, just families wandering by eating ice creams.......
