Hail to the Hive!
We took a mini detour yesterday and veered off onto a little arm of the Grand Union Canal that is a dead end finishing up at Union Wharf in Market Harborough. We’ve passed it several times in the last year but were always either headed to Leicester or back to somewhere else and never went down it.
This time we needed groceries and Market Harborough has grocery shops so off we went. Now apart from being able to tickmoff another section of the canal network and apart from actually getting our supplies, we’re very glad we came.
It’s a beautiful spot. Great moorings, water points everywhere. Waste disposal. Lovely Wharf area with pub ( very important) and the town itself is charming.
And on a lovely morning like this, it’s a great spot to wake up and have morning coffee on the back deck or take a little wander around the Wharf and look at the boats.
I have a sneaking suspicion that this won’t be the last time we visit Union Wharf. In fact I am thinking maybe a couple of days on the way out of Leicestershire. Would be a convenient place to meet friends as we depart also.
I’m feeling very good about things this morning, there’s a positive vibe around.
