The sunlight was only reaching the far end of the balcony that afternoon, so I carried my little stool there and sat down to enjoy the warmth. The rest of the balcony was still in shade, but that small sunny patch felt comforting after a cooler morning. As I settled down, she decided to come over and keep me company. She had already been sitting in the sun for a while earlier, so maybe she had had enough of the heat. Instead of joining me directly in the sunlight, she chose the cooler shade and sat on the mat right in front of me.
बालकनी के उस दिन सिर्फ एक कोने में ही धूप आ रही थी, इसलिए मैं अपना छोटा सा स्टूल उठाकर वहीं जाकर बैठ गया/बैठ गई। बाकी बालकनी अभी भी छांव में थी, लेकिन वह छोटी-सी धूप की जगह बहुत सुकून दे रही थी। जैसे ही मैं वहाँ बैठी, वह भी मेरे पास आकर मुझे कंपनी देने लगी। वह थोड़ी देर पहले धूप में बैठी हुई थी, इसलिए शायद उसे अब थोड़ी गर्मी लग रही थी। मेरे साथ धूप में बैठने के बजाय उसने सामने बिछी मैट पर छांव में बैठना पसंद किया।
For a while, she simply sat there, quietly watching me as if we were sharing a peaceful moment together. Cats have a funny way of making their presence known without doing much at all. Just having her there made the balcony feel a little more lively. After sitting still for a bit, she suddenly got up and walked over to one of the plants in the pot nearby. She leaned in and started sniffing it very carefully, as if she were inspecting something important. I have noticed her doing that with this particular plant quite often, and I still wonder what exactly attracts her to it.
कुछ देर तक वह बस वहीं बैठी मुझे देखती रही, जैसे हम दोनों चुपचाप एक शांत पल साझा कर रहे हों। बिल्लियों की यही तो खास बात होती है। वे बिना कुछ किए भी अपनी मौजूदगी का एहसास करा देती हैं। उसका वहाँ बैठना ही बालकनी के उस छोटे से पल को और भी अच्छा बना रहा था। थोड़ी देर बाद वह अचानक उठी और पास रखे गमले वाले पौधे के पास चली गई। उसने झुककर उस पौधे को ध्यान से सूंघना शुरू कर दिया, जैसे कोई बहुत जरूरी जांच कर रही हो। मैंने उसे इस खास पौधे को कई बार सूंघते देखा है, और आज तक समझ नहीं आया कि उसे उसमें ऐसा क्या पसंद आता है।
After a short while, she turned around and walked back toward the mat again. The way she walked was so confident and graceful that it almost looked like a tiny ramp walk, a little “cat walk” in the most literal sense. It made me laugh quietly to myself.😆It’s funny how Cats don’t really have to do much to amuse you. Even their tiny actions, like walking across the balcony or sniffing a plant, somehow turn into the most delightful little scenes of the day.💕
वह कुछ पल वहीं खड़ी रही, पत्तियों को सूंघती और आसपास देखती हुई। फिर थोड़ी देर बाद वह वापस मुड़ी और धीरे-धीरे मैट की ओर चलने लगी। उसके चलने का अंदाज़ इतना नाप-तौल कर और आत्मविश्वास से भरा हुआ था कि वह किसी छोटी-सी रैंप वॉक जैसा लग रहा था एकदम असली “कैट वॉक”।बिल्लियों को आपको हंसाने के लिए कुछ बड़ा करने की ज़रूरत नहीं होती। उनकी छोटी-छोटी हरकते दिन का सबसे प्यारा और दिलचस्प हिस्सा बन जाती हैं।
