I had to stop for a while during my walk today because I got tired. There was a bench nearby, so I sat down to catch my breath. As I looked up the slope in front of me, I noticed a few dogs lying quietly in the grass. They seemed completely relaxed, just resting in their own space, just like I was. It felt like we were all taking a small break from the day together.
आज चलते चलते मैं थोड़ा थक गई, इसलिए कुछ देर के लिए रुकना पड़ा। पास में एक बेंच थी, तो मैं वहीं बैठकर थोड़ा आराम करने लगी। जैसे ही मैंने सामने की ढलान की तरफ देखा, मुझे कुछ कुत्ते घास में चुपचाप लेटे हुए दिखे। वे बिल्कुल आराम में थे, अपने अपने तरीके से बस आराम कर रहे थे, ठीक मेरी तरह। ऐसा लगा जैसे हम सब दिनभर की भागदौड़ से एक छोटा सा ब्रेक ले रहे हों।
One of the dogs noticed me after a while. I had taken out my phone to click a few pictures, and as soon as I pointed it in their direction, that one dog lifted its head and looked straight at me. For a moment, it felt like we were observing each other. It made me smile because it felt a bit funny.
थोड़ी देर बाद एक कुत्ते ने मुझे नोटिस किया। मैंने तस्वीरें लेने के लिए फोन निकाला ही था, और जैसे ही उसे उनकी तरफ किया, उस कुत्ते ने सिर उठाकर सीधे मेरी तरफ देखना शुरू कर दिया। कुछ पल के लिए ऐसा लगा जैसे हम दोनों एक-दूसरे को देख रहे हों। यह थोड़ा मज़ेदार लगा, और मुझे हल्की सी मुस्कान आ गई।
From the same hill where the dogs were lying, a few people started walking down, carrying old, worn-out wooden beds on their backs. The beds looked in terrible shape and broken, like they had been used for years. What stood out to me was how the dogs didn’t react to them at all. None of them got up or moved away, except for the one dog who had already been watching me.
जिस पहाड़ी पर कुत्ते लेटे हुए थे, वहीं से कुछ लोग नीचे उतरते हुए आए, अपनी पीठ पर पुराने, टूटे-फूटे लकड़ी के पलंग उठाए हुए। वे पलंग बहुत खराब हालत में थे, जैसे कई सालों से इस्तेमाल में रहे हों। मुझे जो बात खास लगी, वो यह थी कि कुत्तों ने इस पर कोई प्रतिक्रिया नहीं दी। उनमें से कोई भी नहीं उठा या हिला, सिवाय उस एक कुत्ते के, जो पहले से ही मुझे देख रहा था।
It was just one of those small everyday moments, just small, quiet actions happening at the same time. The dogs resting, the people carrying their loads, and me sitting there watching…it all came together in a simple way that felt worth noticing.
बस ऐसा ही एक छोटा सा रोज़मर्रा का पल था, जहाँ छोटी-छोटी, शांत चीज़ें एक साथ हो रही थीं। कुत्ते आराम कर रहे थे, लोग अपना सामान उठाकर जा रहे थे, और मैं वहीं बैठकर देख रही थी… सब कुछ मिलकर एक साधारण सा लेकिन ध्यान देने लायक पल बन गया।
