Greetings amazing family...
I learnt that sometimes we often focus on the fruit, but the real tragedy was actually the clothes. In the case of Uncle Adam and Sister Eve I'm referring to.
So In Genesis 2 and 3, everything changes from complete openness to two people suddenly feeling the need to hide.
Before anything went wrong, the Bible says, “Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.” (Genesis 2:25 NIV). They had nothing to prove and nothing to hide. They simply lived in peace.
Then they made a choice. They disobeyed God’s command. After that, they realized they were naked and began sewing fig leaves together to cover themselves. Look closely at that moment. Their first reaction was not to make things right with God. Their first reaction was to hide what they had done.
Sin makes you notice the mess that grace used to cover. And sadly, many of us react just like Adam and Eve. We try to cover instead of surrendering.
Think about it. The first thing humans ever created was not a tool or a weapon. It was something to hide behind.
The Bible does not first mention guilt. It talks about feeling exposed. They took whatever they could find and tried to build a barrier between each other. Why? Because they suddenly felt unsafe.
The deepest pain in this story is not only disobedience. It is that closeness was broken right away. They looked at the one they loved and no longer felt safe being fully seen.
Later, when God walks in the garden, He asks, “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9 NIV). Of course, God knew. But the question shows that something had changed. Distance had entered the relationship.
When Adam answers, he says he was afraid because he was naked, so he hid (Genesis 3:10 NIV). He was not only hiding from God. He was also hiding from himself. He did not know how to face what he was feeling inside.
But look at God’s response. He does not leave them there in their weak covering. The Bible says, “The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.” (Genesis 3:21 NIV).
God replaced their temporary solution with something real. Even after their failure, He stepped in and cared for their need.
Many of us are still wearing our own version of fig leaves today. Is it the image you try to keep in front of others? Is it a perfect life you show at church while things are not okay at home? We think these layers protect us, but they actually keep us alone.
Maybe it is a struggle you keep hiding. Maybe you built habits just to silence the guilt.
This is not just an old story about Adam. It is a mirror of how we live now. The most dangerous moments are not always the ones people see. Sometimes it is when you are smiling but hiding pain inside.
God sees your heart, and He still cares deeply for you. He will never leave you alone. He can cover you with the life of Jesus, just like those garments, and fully restore what is broken.
So what will you choose today? Will you keep hiding behind your own covering, or will you allow God to cover you with His grace? You're reading from your handsome friend John Petra!
Think about this question above deeply.
