It's a beautiful week, and I greet you all here with best wishes and more blessing. I'm writing about Discipleship please read and learn.
Discipleship is a process whereby a believer who has voluntarily surrendered himself or herself to the lord Jesus Christ to become like Jesus by various exposures, activities and discipline, administered by the leadership and determination the lord Himself.
Discipleship again can be likened to a master apprentice or let's say a teacher-pupil relationship with a predetermined curriculum and behavioral objective, that exist between the child of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
This apprentice is like a raw material yet he has hidden potentials of becoming like his master, all he needs is to humbly passed through a simple but sometimes hard training process, and the process of giving out that training is known as discipleship.
The goal of discipleship isn't to make a child of God become like another child of God. We can only fellow and imitate another brother or sister if and only if he or she is transparently showing us the lord Jesus Christ in his or her life.
The basic purpose of God in discipleship is to get every child of God conformed to the image of the lord Jesus Christ.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Romans 8:28-29
If you are a child of God, there is a reason for your new birth. God had a purpose for making you His child. There's a good in His mind for each one of us as His children.
He has predestined us for something special - to be conformed to the image of His son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. And that' s God's purpose for saving you and until that purpose is fulfilled, you have not yet arrived at God's destination for your life.
Discipline is God's means of achieving this eternal purpose and central goal for our lives. it is the only means designed by God to bring us unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
It's actually the process of reproducing or imparting the life of a teacher to the pupil... A life-long process of learning to become conformed to the image of the lord Jesus Christ.
It is a systematic and cumulative way of making a student to be like His master, and in a case like this, God's child must become like Jesus
Luke 6:20.
Looking deep down into the word leadership, from the biblical standpoint, it's a voluntary life of relationship with Jesus and it's not done by coercion. Reading through the bible, I could remember that Jesus never forced any man to be His disciple, it was all a process lead by choice not by force.
Just like He made peter and Andrew and said, follow me and I will make you fishers of men. Matthew 4:19. The whole decisions made was all theirs. They had the choice to either follow His Or decline and stay away.
But they realized that without following Jesus, to learn of Him and become intimate with Him, there was no way they could possibly become anything valuable in God's kingdom.
You too can make a choice today after reading this, to willingly follow the master today and this could begin from your local church assembly, by following the one who's following God through sacrificial services.
Even in the great commission, the central work we're all called to do is to make disciples of all nations. And this process of making can begins from your neighborhood, your circle of friends. The purpose of the gospel is to make men, regardless of their background, culture, past experiences, habits or status, to become like Jesus.
