This post isn't going to be warm and fuzzy....In fact, it's kind of sad.
My wife woke up this morning and got a message from a friend of hers. One of her best friends had passed away completely unexpected. And while the situation about her passing has many layers, here's the super sad part of this story.
She's leaving behind a son, who is the same age as my middle kid.
Before I get into some commentary on the situation, let me just say that I hurt for her family. And the thought of this little kid not having their mother in their life at such a young age is devastating. I will continue to pray for her family and I hope if you are the praying type, you could as well.
As for the death of my wife's friend, this is where things get really tough. My wife said to me after she shed a few tears this morning...
"Somehow I always knew this was going to happen..."
You see, my wife's friend had some serious problems when it came to substance abuse. So much so that after years and years of counselling and rehab, the addiction eventually took it's toll. And again, I'm not commenting on the cause of her death because there is still so much we don't know.
But here's the results of the situation, regardless of whether or not she was going through personal battles in her life....
A family is left mourning. A mother and father buried their daughter today and now a child is going to be raised without a mother.
I mean, this isn't right.
Death isn't right. Addictions aren't right. This is not how this world should have ever been.
My wife is really having a hard time with not only the death of her friend, but also how she 'expected it'. I think she feels guilty that she didn't do enough for her friend but I saw what my wife did do. She prayed for her, she talked to her, she offered bible studies with her.
At the end of the day, we have decisions to make as human beings. God gives us free will.
But I don't blame my wife's friend one single bit. Want to know why? First we all have battles we go through. And you never know what people are dealing with. But also I understand this verse in Scripture, and this is the SINGLE biggest reason there is so much evil and death in this world...
If you are a believer or not, please read this verse a few times....
Understand what we are up against every single moment of our lives. It's not God hurting us. It's not God putting evil in our midst. It's not our fellow man or woman causing illnesses...Please remember who the father of all this wickedness comes from....
The devil is a roaring lion, looking for everyone he can devour.
This is who is responsible for my wife's friends death. Did she have a choice to make? Sure but I can never blame anyone for playing the cards they are dealt and sometimes, the devil wins. Actually most of the time he does in this world.
But here's the promise....Here's the greatest thing you can ever read when you accept Christ as Lord and Savior...
