After yesterday's initial post into the journaling adventure I'm starting up, I followed it up with my next entry...
And instead of doing the video upload as I did before, this will be some good ol' fashioned text :)
I'm really excited about this project I'm firing up and really hope people not only enjoy these posts but also decide to take part and follow along as well. Just one Lord, is all I'm looking for :)
So let's have a look and see what we focused on in Chapter 2 of 1 Corinthians...
I have to admit, I'm still not exactly sure how I want to input this into my journal. I've come up with the chapter, and the take away sentence from the main idea of the chapter....But I also wanted to sneak in which verse I loved the most within the chapter itself.
So while it may not be the big take away of the chapter, a certain verse may really hit home for me personally....But sometimes the verse IS the take away for me on the entire chapter...
For example, in chapter 1, my 'verse' was 18...
My sentence for yesterday's chapter was...."The cross is foolish to the lost."
So what about in today's chapter.....
My take away sentence from the chapter was...."Wisdom comes from the Holy Spirit", which we see sprinkled in throughout this chapter. Pul is clearly showing the church at Corinth that they need to remember who is the great Teacher. The Comforter.
And the big nugget he drops is that without the help of the Holy Spirit, who KNOWS the deep things of God, we are helpless.
However, my favorite verse in this chapter really doesn't have anything directly to do with the wisdom that is granted to us by God....Instead, in verse 9 we see that promise of heaven and that our feeble human minds cannot even begin to understand what is in store for us above.
This is not only a huge comfort, but it gets me thinking...Big Big!
Read deeply into these words...
"Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him."
I mean...Come on :)
This entire chapter is jam packed with some amazing thoughts and lessons for us to hold close to the heart, but this...This is the promise. And it's a promise so big, that we cannot even understand how incredible it truly will be.
We serve a HUGE God.
O.K., so back to my journal....
I tried 3 columns for the first entry yesterday, and forgot to throw in the verse I wanted to highlight (verse 18 of chapter 1).
So today, I write the chapter, the take away sentence and then the verse I wanted to highlight underneath.
To be honest, I don't love the way this is laid out for future reference and reviewing my notes...But we will still play with it and try to find a format that I think works for these kind of entries.
This is so much different than how I used to journal, were it was just all over the place and no structure at all. But this is something new I'm trying, and I'm going ot make it work :)
I hope you guys have a fantastic weekend and I'm hitting the road tomorrow night for a quick trip to Northern Alberta. I'll be on the road until next week, so I'll have time to deep dive into more bible journaling.
P.S. I think I'm going to use the hashtag #biblejournal for this adventure. We'll see if anyone else catches on :)
