Here we go.....
I'm going to be doing something a little different with my blog over the next month or so. As a big bulk of my content will be focusing on this graphic that has really helped me grow as a Christian. I'll share it here and explain what's going to happen....God willing :)
So first, let me say. These blog posts aren't limited to men only, obviously this is for both men and women. But what I will be doing is going over each verse that is found in Proverbs and give my experience and commentary on it.
I just love this graphic, I have it printed out and pasted right in front of my computer so I can remind myself of these precious truths. So over the next month or so, we'll deep dive into each verse and hopefully it helps us grow our faith.
Let's get into it!
The graphic states that a Proverbs man "knows the power of gentle words", and I shared the KJV verse above. Here's something that came to mind for me immediately when reading this verse today.....
I was on social media earlier today and saw someone with the tag in their bio 'Christ Is King'. Which isn't rare these days, after all Christianity is having quite the resurgence of sorts. But what came out of this persons account, was far from representing the Lord and Savious I know from the bible.
Hate filled, vicious venom is what I saw and it was a result of simply....Disagreeing with doctrine. That's it.
The biggest issue I would have seeing this is that this person is claiming Christ is King, yet spewing hate filled words at a fellow believer. Hardly an attitude that Jesus ever portrayed.
Enter....Proverbs 15:4.
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life! That's an awesome thought. Our words have big meaning. So when we are saying wholesome or good things, it brings life to others and life to the world. But there's a catch....
The tongue is vicious. No man can tame it. (James 3:8) And the rest of this verse in Proverbs reads 'perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit'. Meaning, when you start spewing hate, and evil words it kills your spirit.
We have to watch what we say!
I remember hearing a proverb of sorts once that the only time you should be talking about someone is when you are highlighting and praising them. I think this holds true. Not to build up ego or anything, but just refrain from speaking ill of anyone.
Easier said than done when it comes to this guy lol But with the Holy Spirit's help, I will conquer that sin.
How about you?
When you read Proverbs 15:4, what does it tell you about how we should be watching our tongue?
