Oh wow, does today's verse from #kingdomproverbs really hit!
Let's see what the graphic reads as we haven't share it for a few days now, and it's always a good refresher for what we've been over on this journey so far....
It reads that the Proverbs Man & Woman 'do not boast about the future', and we find it in Proverbs 27:1.
As you know by now, yours truly loves to see what the King James Version reads and here's what we find....
I'm not reading this in my bible right now, as I'm taking the verses from the online King James Bible website, I wish it had some cross references. Because I really think a great reference to this verse would be Matthew 6:34....
I'll get back to Proverbs here in a second, but I want to study this verse and think about it for a few minutes. You see, this is what I heard my grandfather tell my family and I almost every time something 'didn't go our way'. He was so at peace with his God and faith. He always reminded us what Jesus said on the sermon on the mount when He showed us to stop worrying about tomorrow....There will be plenty of chances for us to be concerned for the next day, let's deal with this day now.
I miss him greatly. I know I will see him again in the kingdom!
Now we circle back to Proverbs and we can see the wisdom of Solomon. He's not telling us, to not plan for our future. He's not telling us to live every day without a care in the world. Far from it. What the wise man is saying is that we can never tell the future.
And as much as we'd like to know the beginning and end of our lives on this earth, we can't. That's why we need to focus on God. And His kingdom. Because that's a certainty. That's something to invest our time, and energy on.
Actually....Let's circle back to Matthew 6 lol And go one verse up from 34 to verse 33....
This is what Jesus is telling us to focus on! Not tomorrow in the sense of the ups and downs of our time on earth, but rather eternity! Every minute of the day, we're told, to fix our eyes on Christ. And yeah, that's easier said than done in this crazy world we live in. However this is the trick for navigating those ups and downs.
Christ. His righteousness.
I see this verse in proverbs as a reminder of that fact, the ups and downs are a guarantee....But so is our eternal home!
I truly hope these verses have been a blessing to your life, and I'd love to have you join the Kingdom Bible community here on chain. I'm always looking for great content to support, especially from our little community online!
