The colour red is warm and sensual, representing passion, the colour of love. But, it also represents danger, as you'll see a little later.
Do you like the colour red?
This Dala horse was a gift from a lovely young Swedish couple who stayed in our Airbnb for all of two months, soon after we opened up. They visited with their two little boys, and gave us the gift on their last night here, a gesture that meant the world to both of us.
Of course, the painted red wooden horse that has become a symbol of Sweden, also reminds me of a very happy period when our Airbnb started flourishing, soon after retirement.
Next to it are beautiful blood-red tomatoes waiting to be used in a fresh salsa or a creamy tomato pasta sauce. A trick I learned from Mom Lily was that tomatoes stay juicy when kept at room temperature, and not in the fridge. They look gorgeous as well!
I never really liked red, but changed my mind when hubby arrived with a warm red carpet for the living room a long while back. It picked up the whole room. It had dreary colours, but the carpet brings warmth to the room.
My wardrobe also began to fill up with reds. Then a friend gave me two fluffy red throws for my
VIPs usually get to walk on the red carpet. Well, I do so every day of my life, haha;)
The main colours of Christmas time is red. We've all seen Santa Claus in his red outfit; the Christmas tree decorations traditionally came in reds and greens.
This was our 2024 Christmas table, around which everyone sat.
I told you that red also represents danger. Warning signs are always in red, and when someone is injured, they often start bleeding, and you know the colour of blood, right?
Coffee beans come in different shades of red when they're ripe. We saw them on a coffee farm down on the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal.
Cappuccino served in a beautiful blood red coffee cup tastes so good! The right cup can make or break a coffee experience, don't you think? I must say, this one embodied perfection!
