Tell me how much do U love autumn?
That is a question I just read in a post on Hive. In Bibana's post, where she said that autumn is the queen dressed in her finest dresses. That is really true, she wears a pretty dress, designed by a perfect fashion designer - mother nature. 🍂 Even though summer is the season I have dedicated a community to because I love it so much, I have to admit that Bibana is right in loving autumn and taking many photos of those nice leaves. There is something very special about autumn.
It is also interesting that I connected with that same queen exactly today during our walk through the city of Wroclaw (Poland), enjoying the mix of red, yellow and some green leaves in the park.
I kept telling my husband how much I loved this scene, these colours that we don't see in Spain (in the Mediterranean area). Yes, we have some signs of autumn in the vegetation, but not on this level. Here... it is the real autumn, the one I remember from my childhood and youth.
It wasn't just the colours of the leaves that thrilled me so much today in our walk. It was also the smell of fallen leaves on the ground, mixed with mud and water from the puddles. It smells somehow... sweet. I can't explain that smell any better, but it made me go back to the years I could enjoy this season in this colourful outfit.
There are those who will say that autumn is the metaphor of the approaching death, which is inevitable for all of us one day. That it is a time of sadness, of a premonition of an end, of the fading of life - because that is exactly what happens with the leaves of deciduous trees. All this is true, but we cannot forget the charm that autumn has.
Roasted chestnuts on the streets... colourful forests and parks in cities, and also our clothing habits that change with this season. Scarves, hats and gloves that we took out of the closet after a few months can now shine on us again. (I say this because I bought myself a green warm hat for this trip. 😂)
Although, about the death of the vegetation... maybe it is not completely accurate to describe it in that way; actually, it just enters a period of dormancy during the winter, to conserve its energy and survive the low temperatures. Don't we see how queen Autumn is a generous and very kind season? She is dressing the trees and shrubs in this beautiful outfit year by year while preparing them for this important task - to survive and come alive again when the time for that comes.
